A programme of free training in digital marketing will be running throughout September and October in Crewkerne and in Wincanton, Castle Cary, Bruton, Milborne Port, Chard, Ilmininster, Langport, Somerton, South Petherton and Martock. The training is aimed at small businesses but South Somerset District Council would also welcome anyone from the towns listed above, who are thinking about starting a business.
Councillor Angie Singleton, chairman of the Market Towns Investment Group said: “An audit to assess the digital presence of businesses in town centres, showed there was a need for business training to enable small businesses to have well-considered and a targeted marketing on websites and social media. Over 70% of consumers use the internet for customer service enquiries, so hopefully the Digital Marketing training will empower businesses to reach customers and bring success to help promote our towns and drive footfall.”
The training is being run by Cosmic, an IT business which specialises in website development, IT training courses, business consultancy, tech support, digital marketing and search engine optimisation. Digital workshops in Crewkerne take place at Henhayes Community Centre, beginning with Facebook/Instagram/Twitter on Wednesday September 26th from 6.30 – 8.30 pm.
