OPEN DAY AT MASONIC HALL

Parrett & Axe Lodge 814 welcomed visitors to the Masonic Hall in South Street with a guided tour of the building. The Open Day included an exhibition of paintings by local artists Alan Barrett and David Brackston. Refreshments were served while the history of Freemasonry in Crewkerne was shared. In 1860, meetings were held in an upstairs room at the George Hotel. The Lodge later moved to the old town council office in Church Street before moving to South Street. It was pointed out that: “Freemasonry is not a secret society but a society with secrets.” The fraternity regularly donates significant amounts of money to charity and is happy to support worthwhile local causes.
