Award winning pianist Alexander Ullman performed in a sell-out solo concert at The Dance House in Crewkerne. The classical music concert was the last in the current season, organised by Concerts In The West. Cellist Michael Petrov was billed to perform with Alexander but just days before the concert Michael damaged his hand and was unable to continue his concert tour. In a last minute change to the programme, the young British pianist appeared on his own, performing works from the great composers Haydn, Beethoven, Liszt and Schubert.
Concerts In The West plan to increase the number of concerts to be held in Crewkerne during 2019 – with seven of the series of nine to take place in the town next year. John Bartholomew who helps to manage the classical music programme said: “It is a huge vote of confidence in Crewkerne and our supporters. These concerts are given by young professional musicians of exceptional quality, providing top quality chamber music at smaller venues in the West Country. We are keen to increase audiences for these concerts in Crewkerne.” Concerts In The West begin their programme for 2019 in February. Concerts will be held once a month through to November, with only those in March and in June, not coming to Crewkerne.
