EMPTY SHOP TO BECOME HEALTH & BEAUTY PRODUCTS DISCOUNT STORE

An empty shop in Falkland Square is to become a health and beauty products discount store. The large retail premises which has remained vacant since the Budgens branded store closed in March 2017, apart from when it housed a successful six week art and craft exhibition in the summer of 2017 and occasional appointment only displays by Moderna Art, will be a new Savers retail unit.

Savers Health & Beauty Limited are part of the A S Watson Group. Its sister companies in the UK are Superdrug and The Perfume Shop. A planning application has been submitted to South Somerset District Council for permission to carry out external alterations that will include a new shop front infill section, enabling the removal of one of the two current entrances. The internal space is to be fitted out in line with Savers national fit out specifications and new shelving.

The company have also applied for permission to display 2 high-level externally illuminated fascia panels with Savers logo, 1 non-illuminated high-level fascia sign to the rear of the unit and 5 half-height vinyl sections to shopfront with Savers branding. Existing businesses and Crewkerne Library who are in close proximity to the retail unit have been advised of the company’s recent proposals. Crewkerne Town Council are expected to discuss the planning application at their November meeting of the Planning & Highways Committee. SSDC are expected to make a decision on the planning application on November 20th.
