An empty shop in Falkland Square is to become a health and beauty products discount store. The large retail premises which has remained vacant since the Budgens branded store closed in March 2017, apart from when it housed a successful six week art and craft exhibition in the summer of 2017 and occasional appointment only displays by Moderna Art, will be a new Savers retail unit.

A planning application has been submitted to South Somerset District Council for permission to carry out external alterations that will include a new shop front infill section, enabling the removal of one of the two current entrances. The internal space is to be fitted out in line with Savers national fit out specifications and new shelving.

Existing businesses and Crewkerne Library who are in close proximity to the retail unit have been advised of the company’s recent proposals. Crewkerne Town Council are expected to discuss the planning application at their November meeting of the Planning & Highways Committee. SSDC are expected to make a decision on the planning application on November 20th.
