A free demonstration of traditional skills in stone masonry and leaded window restoration takes place at St Bartholomew’s Church on Monday October 29th from 10.30 am until 11.30 am. Tickets for the demonstration are available from Crewkerne LIC at the town hall. The restoration of the west window at the 15th Century parish church is being carried out by Sally Strachey Ltd, contractors for historic conservation who regularly give demonstrations for English heritage. The craftsmen and women who were involved in the restoration work will be demonstrating their skills – the same skills employed by the men who built the church 600 years ago. A spokesperson for the Friends of St Bartholomew’s Church said: “All are welcome but as the demonstration is outdoors, please wrap up warmly and wear a hat or hood rather than bringing an umbrella so everyone can easily see the demonstration.” Our featured photograph was taken by Jeff Hutson.
