LEAGUE OF HOSPITAL FRIENDS APPOINT NEW CHAIRMAN BUT STILL NEED A SECRETARY

The League of Friends of Crewkerne Hospital appointed Steve Crane as their new chairman at the AGM. Steve Crane who is a long term member and is known as Father Christmas to patients on Christmas morning, has taken over from Ron Bond, who after more than six years as chair has stepped down for health reasons. Kathy Head was appointed vice chairman and Rebecca Miskin, the new fundraising officer.

No one volunteered to take on the secretary role from Teresa Bond and the vacant position is now being advertised outside of the groups membership, offering a quarterly honorarium of £200 to cover expenses. The secretary’s duties include arranging committee meetings, preparing a chairman’s brief, circulating agendas, presenting the secretary’s report and taking minutes. Committee meetings are generally held quarterly throughout the year at Crewkerne Hospital but additional meetings may be called for on an adhoc basis.

The secretary is also expected to attend meetings of the finance sub committee, updating the reports in consultation with the treasurer and circulating as necessary. Other duties include receiving correspondence from the Charity Commission and other organisations, dealing with it as necessary in consultation with the chairman and treasurer, submitting the Annual Report and Accounts to Charity Commissioners online and keeping records of the charity up to date. To apply to become the new secretary for the League of Friends of Crewkerne Hospital or for more information on the vacant post, please contact Teresa Bond on 01460
