LANTERN MAKING WORKSHOP FOR LIGHTING UP NIGHT PARADE

A Lantern Making Workshop will be run in Victoria Hall on Saturday November 24th from 10 am until 5 pm, in preparation for a new parade on Lighting Up Night. The lanterns will join Santa’s procession through Market Street on Friday November 30th, and light his way to switch on the Christmas lights on the festive tree outside Crewkerne Town Hall.

The Christmas Committee are very excited about the lantern parade, which will assemble in the South Street car park and is open to anyone who has made their own lantern. A prize will be awarded to the creator of the best judged lantern on the night. A spokesperson for the Christmas Committee said: “Why not get a group of friends or family members together and create your own masterpiece at our Lantern Making Workshop.” Children are welcome to attend the workshop but must be supervised by an adult family member or family friend at all times. Groups of two to five people often work well together in the various stages of planning, designing and making a lantern. People who are interested in attending the lantern making workshop are asked to please book beforehand by emailing deputyclerk@crewkerne-tc.gov.uk
