The theme for this year’s Christmas Tree Festival at St Bartholomew’s Church is Christmas films/movies but not White Christmas. Official entry forms are now available for those wishing to exhibit a tree, which can be fresh, artificial or hand-made. The entry forms must be returned to email@example.com by November 20th. The limit to the number of trees exhibited at the Festival is 55 and entries will be treated on a first come, first served basis. Trees can be dressed as creatively as the exhibitor wishes but flashing lights will not be acceptable.
The Christmas Tree Festival has become a popular annual event and is an important feature of Christmas in Crewkerne. Participating businesses who would like to include a modest level of advertising on their tree exhibit can do so, in return for a donation to Church funds. The Festival opens to the public on Wednesday December 12th at 0930 hrs and runs until Saturday December 15th at 1730 hrs. On the Wednesday and Thursday it will be open from 9.30 am until 5.30 pm, Friday 9.30 am until 4 pm, closing early to prepare for the Midwinter Concert in the evening, and on Saturday from the later opening time of 1 pm, as there is a school carol concert at the church in the morning.
Refreshments will be available at the Christmas Tree Festival and heating, lighting and stewarding provided. Visitors will be invited to vote for their favourite tree with a small prize to be awarded to the junior and senior winners. There will also be a children’s area for painting a Christmas bauble, which the children can take home with them. Trees will remain in the church for services over the Christmas period but must be taken down and removed on December 29th, when the church will be open between 9 am and 5 pm.
