The Crewkerne Christmas Committee have been busy preparing for Lighting Up Night on Friday November 30th. Victoria Hall will once again be the venue for the popular craft fayre, beginning at 5.30 pm and charity stalls will be in Falkland Square. Food and drink, including a hog roast, bacon butties, mince pies and mulled wine will be on offer around the town and the popular snow machine will be operating in the George Shopping Centre.
Phoenix Brass Band are pleased to confirm that they will be playing again this year and radio broadcaster Steve Carpenter will be back as the DJ in Market Square, where carols will be sung by CUDOS before the Christmas tree lights are switched on. Santa will be joined this year by the new lantern parade as he travels down through Market Street on the Rotary Club of Crewkerne District festive sleigh, his arrival preceded by the Merriott Majorettes. At the town hall, Santa will help the Mayor of Crewkerne, Cllr Kathy Head, to switch on the Christmas tree lights at 7 pm.
Santa will make his way to his grotto in the town hall after the lights have been switched on, to hear the children’s Christmas wishes. The Crewkerne Christmas Committee would like to thank the many businesses in the town that support this event with special thanks to Humphries Kirk for allowing them the use of their electricity to light up the town over the Christmas period.
