A spectacular rainbow appeared in the sky on Wednesday afternoon as Doreen O’Brien began her final journey. Doreen formerly of Honiton and widow of Jeremiah, had lived with her daughter Ana and son-in-law Graham in Crewkerne for the last four years. She was a regular attendant on Sundays for Catholic mass in the town, took an interest in the local news, enjoyed her weekly shopping trips to Lidl and loved receiving visits from her old friends, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Following a Requiem Mass at the English Martyrs Catholic Church in Chard, delivered by Father Dominic Findlay-Wilson and attended by family and friends, Doreen was taken on her final journey to Yeovil by Stoodley & Son, accompanied by the Catholic priest and her eldest grandson Bradley Doble, who captured the spectacular double rainbow on film.

Doreen’s family would like to thank everyone for their kindness and support during this sad time. Special thanks to the staff at Crewkerne Hospital, A E Stoodley & Son, Twigs and Twine Floral Design, Father Dominic, Wendy’s Kitchen and to all the people and local organisations who sent cards and messages of condolence.
