Crewkerne Library stayed open later on Lighting Up Night and offered children the chance to decorate Christmas shaped biscuits with marshmallows and seasonal coloured icing in red, green and white. The library’s Christmas raffle for a Yankee candle advent calendar proved a great attraction and was won by a lady called Caroline.
Fun activities for children at the library continue throughout Saturday mornings in December with an Origami Star craft session on the 8th, Hand Print Rudolph on the 15th and Santa’s Boot on the 22nd. Entry forms for The Twelve Days Of Christmas, a competition to identify which shops each photo was taken at and offering the chance to win a family swim for four at Crewkerne Aqua Centre, with sweets for everyone who enters, are available from the library in Falkland Square and from the LIC in the town hall. Closing date is Saturday December 22nd.
Crewkerne Library is also running a Christmas reading challenge and inviting children to read five books by January 5th to receive a certificate. Youngsters who sign up for the reading challenge will receive a leaflet with festive pictures to colour and make into hanging decorations for their home tree or the children’s corner at the library. The leaflet also contains a word search and a maze where youngsters can help Santa to find his way through to the cottage to deliver presents. Every time the children read a book and choose another one, they will be able to collect festive stickers, to add to their decorations.
