St Bartholomew’s School choir with Mrs Alice Samuel sang festive songs for members and friends of the Crewkerne Branch of Royal British Legion at their Christmas social in the George Reynolds Centre. 26 children ranging in ages from four to nine, performed beautifully and encouraged the audience to sing along. Silent Night was sang by the choir in English and by talented young soloists in German and in Polish. The school choir also sang Let It Go from Frozen and I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday as well as everyone’s favourite carol Away In A Manger.
During a short interval, Sandie Smith the Crewkerne Branch community support representative who organised the social morning, presented a home-baked gingerbread biscuit to each child as a token of appreciation. The audience were kept entertained while the children enjoyed their refreshment break by RBL member Clive Sanders. Clive who enjoys writing poetry, read one of his Christmas poems Christmas In The Cookhouse.
The social morning included a tombola and light buffet and raised £100.03. Social mornings and afternoons organised by Sandie Smith have proved a welcome addition to the RBL’s calendar events this year. Sandie thanked everyone for coming to the Christmas social and invited them to a coffee morning at the GRC on January 10th, which is sure to provide another great opportunity for members and friends to enjoy a cuppa and chat together.
