Crewkerne & District U3A enjoyed their Christmas party at their new regular meeting place, the George Reynolds Centre. A variety of sandwiches were served to the groups members, along with sausage rolls, mice pies with cream and Christmas cake. Sheila Seymour, presiding over her first U3A Christmas get-together as chairperson said: “It was incredible. There was a lovely sociable atmosphere, not surprisingly the bar was open and everyone had a good time.”
Entertainment for the festive occasion included sketches, anecdotes and poems led by the Play Reading group. Members also took part in a quiz based on the nicknames of celebrities from across the ages. The winning team scored a remarkable 38 points out of 40. Two prize raffles raised more than £120 and the event concluded with carol singing. Sheila thanked Sarah of the GRC for catering for the U3A’s Christmas party and thanked members of her committee and all those who helped with the organisation to ensure that it was such a success.
