ROTARY’S SANTA FLOAT COLLECTIONS RAISE £1,935 FOR LOCAL CHARITIES

The Rotary Club of Crewkerne District raised £1,935 for local charities in their Santa Float collections. Over six nights in the run up to Christmas, volunteers took the festive sleigh around Crewkerne, Merriott and Misterton, making sure that Father Christmas knew where to visit on Christmas Eve. Volunteers of all ages, coordinated by Fiona Greenwood braved the cold with their collecting buckets as they called at local residents homes for donations and handed out chocolate sweets.

Rotary Club of Crewkerne District President Katy Pritchard said: “It was wonderful to see some very excited children. Santa had spent a lot of time practicing dabbing and it seems to have paid off. Well done to all the members and friends who turned out to escort Santa – great work as always. We know that there are a lot of people hard-up this time of the year and we thank you for your great generosity. It really makes a difference to local charities and our whole community should be proud of this achievement.”

The Rotary Club of Crewkerne District welcomes new people from all walks of life who want to use their expertise for good. People whose sense of responsibility inspires them to give back to their communities. Anyone who would like to get involved can arrange to meet the club by calling Martin Holley on 07929894396 or email membership@crewkernedistrictrotary.org.uk
