Joint winners have been announced in the senior and junior sections of St Bartholomew’s Church Christmas Tree Festival. The theme of Christmas Films/Movies inspired a colourful variety of creative designs. 46 entries took part in the Christmas Tree festival with the Friends of Crewkerne Station’s Thomas The Tank and St Bartholomew’s Bell Ringers entries declared joint winners of first prize in the seniors and Haselbury Plucknett Church of England First School with Snowmen and the Grinch from friends and customers of Crewkerne Library, with many children having helped to decorate the tree, taking joint first prize in the junior entries.
The public were invited to vote for their favourite tree during the festival which also offered visitors the chance to ring out a nursery rhyme or festive song on a mini set of coloured handbells, which proved to be a lot of fun for people of all ages. On the last official day of the 2018 St Bartholomew’s Church Christmas Tree Festival, visitors were entertained by St Bart’s Church Handbells and the Crewners with festive refreshments served by church volunteers.
Christmas tree festival organiser Hilary Leamon would like to thank all the local organisations, businesses, churches and schools who took part, volunteers who worked hard to make the event possible, those who helped during the festival, church wardens for their help and guidance and everyone who visited the parish church to see the wonderfully decorated trees and made it all worthwhile.
