Friends Of Crewkerne Station (FOCS) have won the prized cup for most public votes overall in the Decoration Station Christmas competition run by Blackmore Vale Line Community Rail Partnership. The inter-station event between the six stations that belong to the BVLCRP – Crewkerne, Tisbury, Gillingham, Templecombe, Sherborne and Yeovil Junction, including the crew from Yeovil Railway Centre – celebrated and promoted the hard work of volunteers and station staff during the festive season.
Secretary of FOCS Gail Coleshill recently travelled to Templecombe railway station for the awards ceremony where she was presented with the silver trophy from last year’s winners, the Friends of Templecombe Station. The Christmas competition also invited rail passengers to score marks out of 10 in nine categories headed up Deck the Halls, Coolest Santa, Most Captivating Tree, Winter Wonderland, Best Christmas Feature, Finest Hand-Crafted Decoration, Star of Wonder, Scenic Ritziest Christmas Train and Most Festive Booking Hall. FOCS also received the highest score for their Christmas tree in the booking hall. Gail Coleshill said: “Well done to our volunteers and team of decorators led by Heather Sargeant and thank you to rail passengers and station visitors for voting.”
