Members of Yeovil & South Somerset LETS held their January coffee morning in the Home Bakery at the Antiques Bazaar in Crewkerne. The group whose members include many who live in Crewkerne and the surrounding villages, enjoyed discussing a variety of topics and their forthcoming AGM in February which will include the main meeting, trading and a shared lunch.
LETS stands for Local Exchange & Trading Scheme. Apart from an annual membership fee of £6, all trading and attendance at the local groups social events is conducted using the non-monetary currency of Scrumpies. LETS is a non-profit organisation, run by its members with an elected core group who administer the running of the scheme.
Regular events include monthly coffee mornings held at the Home Bakery in Crewkerne, the Cedar Tree Cafe at Yandles in Martock and the Emporium Cafe in Yeovil, pub evenings held at different venues across South Somerset and trading days and social functions held either in a village hall or at a members home. Members are kept informed of LETS news and diary dates in LETS Connect, a monthly newsletter edited by Ann Barker. New members are always welcome.
