The Secretary of Crewkerne Branch of the Royal British Legion, Alice Samuel, received the Volunteer of the Year Award at the annual County Conference held at Taunton and Pickeridge Golf Club. Alice was presented with the award by County President Commodore Robert Mansergh OBE MA. Her citation reads: “Since she became Secretary she has continually worked tirelessly in bringing the Branch and the whole community together, moving them to their new venue at the George Reynolds Centre, organising events and involving the local schools and cubs, scouts, guides, brownies, beavers and rainbows. Alice is the epitome of ‘Service Not Self’ and is a credit to her Branch and the wider Legion.”

For the fourth year running, which is a huge achievement, the Crewkerne Branch were awarded the Barnes Cup for Efficiency. Branch President Terry Austin was presented with the prestigious trophy by the County President. Branch Chairman Tony Samuel said: “I am really pleased with the awards and it just goes to show the Branch are still moving in the right direction. I would like to thank all the Branch and committee members for their support. The community have recognised us as a Branch by attending many of our events and they deserve a big thank you as well.”
