AWARD WINNING START TO CLASSICAL MUSIC CONCERT PROGRAMME

A new series of concerts that will see some of Europe’s most talented young musicians perform in Crewkerne, begins next month. The first concert at The Dance House on February 16th at 7.30 pm, features the award winning Trio Sora of Magdalena Geka (violin), Pauline Chenais (piano) and Angele Legasa (cello) who will be performing works by Clara and Robert Schumann and Brahms. The three musicians were awarded the laureate of the special prize at the Verbier Festival Academy 2018, an annual international festival for young musicians.

A total of seven concerts of classical and baroque chamber music, organised by Concerts in the West, will take place at The Dance House during 2019. Tickets cost £15 with a two-for-one deal for members of Crewkerne & District U3A. John Bartholomew who helps to organise the classical music programme on behalf of Concerts in the West said: “This is a vote of confidence in Crewkerne. I believe that we have planned an excellent programme that also contains one or two surprises, such as Mela guitar quartet in April who will be playing not only a Bach fugue but also a Dave Brubeck medley. This is a great opportunity to see some wonderful young musicians, many of whom are destined to become major international artistes.”
