Organic Rhythm are hosting a Fun Drumming Day at Crewkerne Community Church on Saturday February 2nd. Described as “a great stress release, and chance to learn something new in a relaxed and friendly class,” organisers are requesting bookings beforehand to ensure a space is reserved. Beginners and those with some drumming experience are welcome. There are some drums available to borrow for those who do not have their own drum. Sharon of Organic Rhythm said: “Please be aware that drumming can make you feel good and this may have long lasting benefits.” Hot drinks will be provided but attendees are asked to bring their own packed lunch or food to share with others. Please contact Sharon on 07966613724 to purchase tickets and for more information.

February’s film at Crewkerne Community Cinema is not for the faint hearted. On Friday 8th at 7.30 pm, FilmCrew bring Detroit to the movie screen at Wadham School auditorium. The powerful and harrowing film directed by Kathryn Bigelow is a doc-drama about the five days of riots in July 1967 when the summer of love exploded into a dark incident in the history of US race relations. The brutal police reaction when Detroit police and state troopers stormed the annex of the Algiers Motel, believing that a sniper had fired on them, ‘seeks to place viewers in the shoes of its helpless victims.’ Visitors can attend an individual film show without needing to book in advance for £6, payable when doors open at 7 pm. If you have a membership enquiry please contact Joan Clemow on 01935 822656.
