Henry VIII lookalike Michael Farley took on the Chaser Paul Sinha on ITV’s quiz show and won. Michael whose stage name is Good King Hal lived in Crewkerne for many years before moving to Essex. He was well known for his appearances in regal costume at local events and a friend to many in the community.
Michael’s bid to beat the Chaser was broadcast on television on Wednesday January 30th at 5 pm. He answered ten questions correctly in the cash builder and chose to stick with the middle offer of £10,000 in the head to head with The Sinnerman despite the higher offer of £30,000 which he joked was “£5,000 for each wife,” referring to the six wives of Henry VIII.
In the final chase to win a share of the £25,000 in the pot, Michael proved to be quick on the buzzer, helping his team mates Ross and Joel to an impressive 20 steps ahead of the Chaser. The trio had five attempts to push back with four executed and Paul Sinha ran out of time. When asked by show host Bradley Walsh what he would be spending his £8,333.33 winnings on? Mike said: “I will buy some new costumes.”
