BISHOP VISITS PARISH CHURCH

The Bishop of Bath and Wells, Right Reverend Peter Hancock visited St Bartholomew’s Church where he blessed the restored West Window and the new audio-visual system. Regular church goers were joined by members of the Friends of St Bartholomew’s Church, who contributed £50,000 towards the cost of the restoration work. The Right Reverend Peter Hancock was presented with a framed and engraved picture of the window and a copy of Peter Wingrave’s new book, Crewkerne Parish – its Church and People.

The Friends of Crewkerne Parish Church raised the much needed funds for the 15th Century church by presenting a series of events and concerts throughout the year. Their next concert on Sunday March 3rd at 3 pm will feature renowned local mezzo-soprano Louise Innes accompanied by Charlotte Brennan. L’heure Exquis – an exquisite hour long performance will include songs by Haydn, Faure, Hahn, Frank Bridge and Vaughan Williams. Tickets at £10 each are available from the LIC in the town hall or by phoning 01460 271440 (£12 on the door). Our featured photograph was taken by Jeff Hutson.
