The first Crewkerne Makers Market successfully launched alongside the monthly Farmers Market at Henhayes Centre on Saturday March 16th. Due to the weather forecast predicting gale force winds and heavy rain, market coordinator Hannah Palmer decided to hold both indoors with the pop-up tearoom run by Can I Bake You A Cake serving hot drinks and home-made cakes in a cosy area where visitors could rest and chat.
A variety of hand-made goods which included crochet hats, cards, jewellery, cushions and origami flowers were on display in the main hall and were joined by a representative from Somerset Wildlife Trust. Market Coordinator Hannah said: “Thank you to everyone who supported our first Crewkerne Makers Market. We are so lucky to have so many talented local makers, designers and creators on our doorstep. We are looking forward to showcasing many more at the next market on Saturday April 20th. Any local crafter who would like to trade at the Makers Market please visit www.crewkernemakersmarket.co.uk
The Crewkerne Makers Market in April will be inside the Henhayes Centre from 9 am until 1 pm. While outside the Farmers Market will be joined by the first Antiques and Vintage Market with lots of new stalls helping to make the monthly market in Crewkerne a much bigger event with a wider selection of locally produced food and drink and curios and collectibles on offer.
