Children from Year 1 at Perrott Hill School were each given a single stem Gerbera when they visited Twigs & Twine Floral Design to view their pictures in the shop window. Twigs & Twine in the George Shopping Centre invited children in the Nursery, Reception and Year 1 and 2 classes at the school in North Perrott, to take part in a Mothers Day Art Competition. Laura Brown who is co-owner of the contemporary florists and botanical gift shop in Crewkerne with her business partner Ella Kivett was amazed at how many entries they received from the school. Laura said: “We were expecting ten to fifteen entries and were overwhelmed as we received nearly 50. The tricky part is for people to choose their favourites.”
The children’s art competition with the theme of Mothers Day and flowers has been running since the beginning of this week and customers have enjoyed voting for their favourite picture. The winners will be announced tomorrow afternoon at 3 pm, during the Spring concert at Perrott Hill Prep School. The three most popular pictures will win the young artists a bouquet of flowers, ready for them to present to their Mums or a significant parent as a special gift.
