Crewkerne In Bloom is asking for help, in the exciting challenge that lies ahead with Crewkerne entered into the South West In Bloom competition. The town’s entry is being coordinated by Crewkerne In Bloom, a friendly and enthusiastic band of volunteers who would welcome more volunteers to join the work sessions or help with administration. Regular weekly dates have been scheduled for weeding, planting and general maintenance. Weekend days are being organised for planting the flower beds at the bottom of Church Street and by the Welcome to Crewkerne stone at the entrance to South Street car park, also for cleaning town signage and litter picking. Help will also be needed with watering at least twice a week from early June.
Crewkerne In Bloom has received support from a number of businesses, who are taking hanging baskets to put up around the town centre. Crewkerne Town Council, Ashlands School, the Youth Group at the George Reynolds Centre and the Crewkerne Branch of the Royal British Legion are all on board the exciting project and other organisations and businesses are invited to participate. There will be a competition for individuals throughout the town, to enter a hanging basket, window box, doorstep planter or front garden. A spokesperson for Crewkerne In Bloom said: “It would be really good if everyone was able to join in, so please take up the challenge, contact us to take part and we’ll all help to make Crewkerne a really bright and colourful place to live, work or visit.
