TWINNERS ENJOY COMPETING IN NEW AGE KURLING

A group of twinners and their friends enjoyed competing in New Age Kurling at the Tithe Barn in Merriott. The social evening, organised by Crewkerne & District Twinning Association, included some expert tuition in the game, which was adapted from Curling so that it could be played indoors on any smooth surface and not just on ice. Several games were played at the event before half-time was called and everyone enjoyed a Ploughmans Supper. After the break, the refreshed teams regrouped and rivalry between the sides brought strong competition. Chairperson of Crewkerne & District Twinning Association, Lorna Scudder said: “It was certainly a new experience for most of us and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.”

The twinning association is busy preparing for a visit from their French friends in Igny and Bures-sur-Yvette in May. As well as a coach party arriving in Crewkerne on May 30th, four of the visitors will be cycling all the way and the Mayor of Bures-sur-Yvette will arrive by car, accompanied by three of his town’s councillors. If anyone is interested in offering accommodation during the exchange visit, which ends on June 2nd, please contact Lorna on 01460 72962 or email laylanboris@gmail.com
