HISTORICAL ROMANTIC DRAMA FOR LAST FILM OF SEASON

Members of FilmCrew, Crewkerne & District Community Cinema, have selected a historical romantic drama for the last film of the season. Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society will be shown at Wadham School auditorium on Friday May 24th at 7.30 pm. The 2018 film directed by Mike Newell and written by Don Roos and Tom Bezucha is a screen adaptation of the best selling novel, written by Mary Ann Shaffer and co-author Annie Barrows, which was first published in 2008.

The story enfolds as writer Juliet Ashton, played by Lily James, forms an unexpected bond with the residents of the Channel Island of Guernsey, which was under German occupation in World War 11, when she decides to write a book about their war time experiences. Matthew Goode stars as Sidney Stark, Juliet’s friend and publisher. Other cast members include Michiel Huisman as Dawsey Adams and Jessica Brown Findlay as Elizabeth McKenna.

The film is the last one this year in FilmCrews season which runs from September to May inclusive and will be followed by the AGM. Visitors may attend the show without booking in advance for £6, payable when doors open at 7 pm. Annual membership for current members of FilmCrew is available until June 30th, at the early bird loyalty price of £22. For those wishing to join for the first time, the annual subscription for nine films during the 2019/2020 season is £25.
