The Crewkerne Branch of the Royal British Legion are holding a D-Day Landing Event at Severalls Green on Sunday June 9th. Following a short service at 11 am, the commemorations for the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Normandy and D-Day Landings will continue with entertainment by the Ukulele Band and singing with Jan McNeill. Coffee, tea, burgers, hot dogs and cakes will be available. Fun attractions for children include Hook a Duck, Face Painting, Glitter Tattoos and a sweet trolley. There will also be a tombola and a smaller model of the Poppy of Honour, which visited the town last year, will be on display to honour the Fallen of Crewkerne. The event runs until 3.30 pm. A member of the Crewkerne Branch of the RBL said: “Join us to remember and join us for some fun.”

This summer’s fundraising event, hosted by Crewkerne & District Friends of Cancer Research UK, will take place on Monday June 10th between 3 – 5 pm in Haselbury Plucknett. Instead of the Summer Lunch that has been held for many years in Crewkerne, the Friends of CRUK will present a Cream Tea at 11 Globe Orchard, TA18 7RS, by kind invitation of Mr and Mrs Rodaway. The entrance fee to include the afternoon tea costs £5 per person. Stalls will be on display, offering homemade cards, plants, bring and buy items and selling tickets for the prize raffle. All funds raised on the day will go towards life-saving research to help beat cancer.
