A street collection in Crewkerne for Christian Aid on Friday May 17th, raised £412.43 in donations. Christian Aid Week unites churches throughout Britain and Ireland, working globally for profound change that eradicates the causes of poverty and striving to achieve equality, dignity and freedom for all, regardless of faith or nationality. The first Christian Aid Week was held in 1957 and six decades later, the charity’s annual collections are still going strong. Crewkerne volunteer collector Simon Colledge said: “I would like to thank all our supporters and helpers for the generous donations and assistance given with this year’s street collection during Christian Aid Week.”

Friends of Crewkerne Parish Church are pleased to present Music For A Midsummer’s Evening at St Bartholomew’s Church on Saturday June 22nd. Crewkerne based mezzo soprano, Louise Innes, will perform in concert with Louisa Fuller on violin and Charlotte Brennand on piano, completing the Millbrook Ensemble.

The evening’s programme begins at 7.30 pm and will include popular songs and violin pieces by Haydn, Elgar, Faure, Frank Bridge and Vaughan-Williams. Louise Innes has performed all over the world from Covent Garden, Opera North, La Scala, L’Opera Comique to 10 Downing Street and Radio 2’s Friday Night is Music Night. Tickets for Music For A Midsummer’s Evening cost £14, with under 18’s admitted for free. They are available from the LIC in the town hall and from Ian Tribe on 01460 271440.
