POLICE SEEK INFORMATION ON BREAK-IN AT ANTIQUES SHOP

Police are seeking information on a break-in at Crewkerne Antiques, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday May 28th. A spokesman for Avon & Somerset Constabulary said: “Police were called to a report of a break-in at an antiques shop in Market Street, Crewkerne at about 12.15 am on May 28th. A witness reported seeing four people, whose faces were covered, breaking into the shop. They took a safe containing cash and a quantity of jewellery and left the scene in what is believed to be a white coloured VW Golf.”

Police are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area and may have information to help with their enquiries. Anyone who is able to help, please telephone 101 and ask for DC Mark Charles, quoting incident reference number 5219117641. Crewkerne Antiques have confirmed that an attempted robbery also took place, on May 30th. The shop’s proprietors have recently issued a statement to all their valued customers: “A large quantity of high value silver, gold and jewellery have been stolen from this shop. After careful consideration and much regret, we have decided not to trade in such items in the future. We ask that anyone who has information on either incidents, please contact the police.”
