STRONG START FOR JUNIOR RUNNERS IN 5K RACE

Junior runners in this year’s Crewkerne 5K Race, made a strong start from the line outside of Crewkerne Town Hall, after being counted down by MC Derek Boles. First home, improving on second place in last year’s 5K, was Rocco Sughayer in a time of around 28 minutes. The second Junior Boy was Finlay Downes with Ryan Follett in third place.

Last year’s winner of the Junior Girl race Lara May Deakin retained her title with an impressive time of around 35 minutes. The second Junior Girl was Eleanor Shelvey and third, Alice Cox. Winners of the 5K Business Challenge were a team from SDS copiers printing service, based in Bridgwater. The Copier Crew were Dan Sanyasi, Nigel Gass and Simon Lomen. First man home in the 5K was Bradley Mace, running for Stokes Partners Res 1 Team and first woman home, Nikki Guiver.

Volunteers from Crewkerne Running Club ran a drinks station and stall with bananas for the entrants of the 5K Junior Race, Fun Run, Business Challenge and 10K Race, in Market Square. Trophies and medals were presented by a representative from race sponsors Stokes Partners LLP. This year’s nominated charity, to receive proceeds from the races, is The Somerset Fund, supporting smaller local causes.
