Inspired by a talk at Crewkerne & District U3A about the Canine Assistance charity, a group have decided to raise £5,000 for the training of an assistance dog. An afternoon event with a cream tea, will be held at the George Reynolds Centre on Sunday June 23rd from 2 pm to 5 pm. Delia, the assistance dog who has transformed the life of a local woman will be at the event. One of the local organisers of the fundraising event, Val Warren said: “It is inspiring to hear the life-changing tasks that Delia is able to do for Ruth. If we are able to raise £5,000 towards the training of an assistance dog, we will be the first group or organisation in the area to do this and be able to name a puppy. The afternoon tea at the GRC will include bring and buy, produce and craft stalls, a raffle and fizz and home-made ginger beer.
