Crewkerne & District Friends of Cancer Research UK and their loyal supporters braved the thunderstorms to attend the group’s summer fundraising event. The afternoon event, held at a private garden in Haselbury Plucknett, included a cream tea, grand draw and stalls selling bric-a-brac, books, plants and hand-made cards. Despite the heavy downpours, the event raised £725.30 for Cancer Research UK.
Chairman of the Friends, Simon Colledge said: “We would like to thank all the loyal supporters who came along even though the weather was terrible. A big thank you to Mr and Mrs Rodaway for inviting us to hold the event in their lovely garden and to those who volunteered to run our fundraising stalls.” The Friends will be having a town collection day in Crewkerne on Friday July 12th from 9 am until 2 pm in Falkland Square. Simon and other volunteers will be at the promotional stand and would very much appreciate donations and people stopping to say hello and find out more about what Crewkerne & District Friends of CRUK do, to support the work of the charity.
