The second concert in the Crewkerne Concert Series at the Methodist Church in South Street on Saturday July 6th, beginning at 7.30 pm, will feature some of Somerset’s best young musicians. Mezzo soprano Molly Soo who gained a distinction in her ABRSM diploma and is now studying for a music degree at Bath Spa University, will perform a range of music from Handel, Bach, Vivaldi, Elgar and Faure. George Horgan, also performing on the night, is studying as a tenor at the prestigious Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, having gained the ABRSM diploma with distinction when studying with singing teacher Julie Woollard. George has been a member of the National Youth Choir of Great Britain and is looking forward to singing the role of Frederick in the Pirates of Penzance next year.
Another singer, featured in the Crewkerne programme is soprano Samantha Chew, who is also a member of the Taunton based Phoenix Singers and will be joining the renowned Somerset Chamber Choir in the autumn. Samantha has studied singing with Julie Woollard for nine years and has an ABRSM diploma with distinction. Joining the singers will be trumpeter Hetty Christopher and flautist Amelia Donovan, performing the famous Hummell Trumpet Concerto and the CPE Bach Hamburger Sonata. Tickets for this concert in Crewkerne are expected to sell quickly and are £8 in advance from 01460 240025. 18’s and under have free admission and any unsold tickets will be available for £10 each, at the door on the night.
