Outdoor and indoor floral displays are bringing colour to town, in preparation for Crewkerne’s entry into this year’s South West in Bloom competition. Hanging baskets, bicycles and wheelbarrows adorned with flowers, are now up and ready for when the judges visit on July 12th. A spokesperson for Crewkerne In Bloom said: “It is good to see that people in the town are getting behind our South West in Bloom entry and putting out hanging baskets and planters. The town centre is looking good and walking around Crewkerne there are many lovely front gardens. Everywhere is looking colourful and we very much appreciate everyone joining in.”
Residents in the town still have time to enter the front garden competition, sponsored by Brimsmore Nurseries in Yeovil, with entry classes for a hanging basket, window box and front of house, which will be judged from the kerbside on July 18th. Entry forms are available from the LIC in the town hall. Businesses with a shop window in the centre of town are invited to enter the shop window competition, which will run from July 9th until July 24th and is being sponsored by Williamsons Solicitors. No entry form is needed for this but the proprietor judged as having the best floral display in their shop window, will be awarded the Williamson Shield.
Crewkerne In Bloom volunteers will be in the town centre on Sunday June 30th, throughout the daytime, for a massive clean and tidy up and would welcome anyone who can spare some time to help them.
