ANOTHER CHANCE FOR MEMBERS TO ATTEND JURASSIC COAST STUDY DAY

A second study day in Crewkerne for U3A members, on the Jurassic Coast, is being organised by the Avalon network of U3A’s in South Somerset. The first one last October was such a sell-out success, that a promise was made to repeat it. Study Day mark 2 takes place on Friday July 19th at the George Reynolds Centre. Val Warren, Avalon network co-ordinator said: “We had more than 100 delegates attend the first one, some from as far away as Cornwall and we could not squeeze in another chair.”

The principal speaker will be Richard Edmonds, a geologist and chief scientist to Jurassica, a project that aims to recreate a Jurassic World in a quarry on Portland Bill. The other speakers will be Norah Jaggers, an ambassador with the Jurassic Coast Trust and Val Watson, who is the leader of Crewkerne & District U3A’s geology group. Val said: “It promises to be a really inspiring day, so I would recommend that members book early.” For Crewkerne & District U3A membership enquiries, please email anneat3a@gmail.com
