Katy Pritchard rang the church bells at St Bartholomew’s Church on her wedding day, just weeks before the end of her Presidential year at the Rotary Club of Crewkerne District. The wedding in Crewkerne’s parish church provided an unusual background for the club’s chain of office as she joined her fiance Lewis Manuel in matrimony. The bride wore a jewelled tiara and a home-made red wedding dress with velvet bodice. The groom wore a silver-grey suit with white waistcoat, white shirt and red tie. They were joined for their special ceremony by friends and colleagues from Crewkerne District Rotary.
Katy is a bell ringer at St Bartholomew’s Church and alongside husband Lewis, participates in the post practice quiz in Oscars. In a fitting end to her presidential year, at the club’s meeting in June, the Rotary Club of Crewkerne District made donations of £3,850 to charities. These included the Global Polio Eradication Initiative and Katy’s chosen charity, Promise Works – a mentoring charity which supports vulnerable young people across Somerset and whom she is a voluntary mentor.
The happy couple can regularly be seen in high-vis jackets at events such as Crewkerne Fair, Bonfire Night and Home Farm Festival. Crewkerne District club has a young and diverse membership, who enjoy a busy social calendar as well as organising and supporting important community events. The club welcomes people from all walks of live or work in Crewkerne and the surrounding villages, who want to meet new friends whilst doing good work in their community.
