FIRE SERVICE CALLED TO DOMESTIC PROPERTY FIRE

Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service received calls of smoke and flames coming from a bedroom window of a domestic property, in a residential area off of Ashlands Road in Crewkerne, on Thursday July 4th at 10:06 hrs. One crew from Crewkerne, two crews from Yeovil and one crew from Chard attended. On arrival crews confirmed that there was smoke issuing from the first floor and the roof.

The fire crews used eight breathing apparatus, four hose reel jets and four main jets to extinguish the fire, which caused ninety per cent fire damage to the first floor and roof and twenty per cent heat and smoke damage to the rest of the property. Fire service appliances and a police presence were in attendance for several hours but thankfully no ambulances were reported as being at the scene.
