NEW ROTARY PRESIDENT PRESENTS FELLOWSHIP AWARD

The first official duty for the new President of the Rotary Club of Crewkerne, Iain Rowland, was to present a Fellowship Award. Iain Rowland received the Chain of Office from last year’s President, Stuart Prince and was pleased to present Stuart with a Paul Harris Fellowship Award certificate for his excellent and committed work in the community and the club.
Iain has great plans for his Presidential year in office that include establishing a RotaKids Club in Crewkerne.

RotaKids is a ‘fun and exciting way for children aged 7 – 12 years to make friends and get involved with important activities in the community, while having a great time in the process.’ Iain said: “The children are the future of Rotary. I would like to see local schools and youth groups get involved and set up a RotaKids Club in Crewkerne. It is important to work with young people at an early age, to help them to adopt the mind set of ‘Service Above Self.’ They can gain valuable experience in helping others and learn new and interesting things.”

There are over 200 RotaKids Clubs across Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland, all making a difference to the lives of children in their communities. The Rotary Club of Crewkerne is one of 1,800 clubs, who are available to offer support to schools and youth clubs to start the RotaKids adventure. Rotary will work in partnership with the school or youth club to ensure RotaKids benefit from being members and may also be able to help with sponsorship and financial support.
