The Summer Fete at St Bartholomew’s First School, organised by the FSA raised around £2,800 for extra activities. The fete was officially opened by Crewkerne Town Crier David Craner in the presence of the town’s Mayor Kathy Head. Several local organisations including the Crewkerne Branch of the Royal British Legion were in attendance with Crewkerne First Scouts running the hot food stall. Children were kept amused with a variety of activities, competitions and a bouncy castle and the ice-cream van proved extremely popular to help visitors cool down on a very hot afternoon.

A spokesperson for St Bartholomew’s First School FSA said: “A massive thank you to everyone who attended and helped. Special thanks to the Scouts for the BBQ which sold out. Fabulous performances from the school choir, country dancers, Sam Lloyd and Ju-Jitsu and thanks to all the outside stalls.” The FSA’s next fundraising event is a Car Boot Sale, which takes place on Sunday July 21st from 10 am – 1 pm. Free admission for children, adults 50p and cars £4, vans £6, set up from 9 am.
