Preparations for Crewkerne Charter Fair are well underway by volunteers from the Rotary Club of Crewkerne District. The annual event which consists of a street market, entertainment and a fun fair, takes place on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th September. Market stalls run by local traders and organisations will be in Falkland Square from 9 am until 4.30 pm on both days. Edward Danters Fun Fair with popular rides such as Miami Dance, Sizzler, Race O Rama, Dodgems, Waltzers and Teacups and fairground stalls will open on Friday at approximately 5.45 pm and on Saturday at 12 noon. Friday evening entertainment in Falkland Square from 7 pm includes the Blackdown Samba Band and Music with Ollie Vinney.
A mini beer festival and hog roast will take place in Oscars Courtyard on the Friday evening with the Stoke sub Hamdon Silver Band performing. The beer festival will continue on the Saturday from 2 pm with music from Alan’s Allstars Jazz Band until 6 pm and One Tree Hill from 8 pm onwards. Crewkerne Conservative Club will also be open to non-members on Saturday evening from 8 pm with music by Elvis 56. Food from Swinging Hot Pizza will be available from 7 pm on both evenings in Falkland Square and look out for the organiser’s very own roving busker Jonathan on Saturday during the day time.
