ANNUAL WALK AROUND PARISH BOUNDARY

The annual walk around the Parish Boundary takes place on Saturday September 7th, leaving from outside Crewkerne Library at 1 pm. The free event is organised by the Rotary Club of Crewkerne District and everyone is invited to join them on the five mile walk, which is not suitable for pushchairs but welcomes children accompanied by an adult and dogs on leads.

The route consists of mainly footpaths with some walking on quiet roads and can be shortened to a 2.5 mile walk if preferred, as there are opportunities to cut back into town at various points along the way. The tradition of walking around the parish boundary was originally known as Beating the Bounds. It is believed to date back hundreds of years when it was led by a member of the church clergy. Those who wish to take part are asked to wear sturdy footwear and clothes suitable for the weather on the day.
