Classical Music Concert/ Family Theatre Show

October’s Concerts in the West classical music tour features two of the UK’s most talented young musicians, Nathaniel Boyd and Simon Lane, who will be playing at The Dance House in Crewkerne On Saturday October 5th from 7.30 pm. Cellist Nathaniel Boyd is an internationally recognised chamber musician and soloist, who has appeared at the world’s leading concert halls. Pianist Simon Lane has gained recognition for his compelling and sensitive performances and collaborated with many of the world’s most exciting musicians including Danielle de Neise, Lestyn Davies, Allan Clayton, Guy Johnston and Jack Liebeck. Catherine Maddocks, founder and director of Concerts in the West said: “We are delighted to welcome back Nathaniel Boyd, who we heard in our 2018 season when he came to play with the Albion Quartet. We are also pleased to invite back Simon Lane, who performed for us in 2015.” Tickets cost £15 unreserved seating and are available for advanced bookings from concertsinthewest@gmail.com and the LIC at the town hall. Tickets may still be available on the night at the door from 6.45 pm. Concessions are available for students with a card and children under the age of 12 years have free entry when accompanied by a paying adult.

Children’s theatre and story telling combine for an afternoon performance of The Fire Catcher at Henhayes Centre on Saturday October 19th, beginning at 2 pm. The fast and fun packed family show, performed by professional actors Angela Laverick and David Reakes of Tor Theatre, boasts “bags of opportunities for the audience to howl along to.” Presented by Take Art, it is suitable for children three plus and upwards accompanied by an adult. Star character Coyote is fast, fearless, cunning and kind. There are two things she doesn’t like – being cold and narrators, because they’re a “bit y’know boring.” Coyote decides to steal fire and give it to the world but imagine her surprise when she finds a narrator telling her story.
