ANNUAL AWARDS EVENING FOR STUDENTS AT WADHAM SCHOOL

Wadham School held its Annual Awards Evening at The Minster in Ilminster. Wadham School Headteacher Matthew Gardner welcomed everyone before an opening prayer was said by School Chaplain Abby Lintern. The evening programme was introduced by Head Students Leah Harper and Lucy Elsdale. Guest speaker and presenter of the awards was Robert Graydon JP, a former student of the school. Among the many awards presented were: Year 9 Maureen Hindle Cup for progress in Art to Devon Last, Year 11 Jill Hutchings Award to Jemimah Dicker, Year 9 Junior Music Cup to Charlie Lefeuvre, Year 10 Dawes Senior Music Cup to Daisy Palmer, Sally Culmstock Cup for Achievement in Singing to Kailem Hodge, Year 11 Clyde Anderson Award for Engineering to Harvey Bennett, Year 9 Stella French Award to Leah Thomas, Year 11 Jacqui Taylor Award to Hannah Obern, Year 9 Vanessa Salter Junior Linguist Award to Charlotte Wellman, Year 10 Crewkerne & District Twinning Association Award for Excellence in French to Aniela Wodynska, Year 11 Vanessa Salter Senior Linguist Award to Frank Agar, Year 11 Cathy Tremaine Award for Business Studies to William Lawson, In PE Year 9 Vickery Cup to Lily Duckett, Year 11 Spurway Family Award for Sports to Noah Kruszynski, In ICT, Year 11 Aerosystems Shield to Kyla Hooper, Year 11, 77 Award for Mathematics to Olivia Marshall-James and in Science, Year 11, the Peter Spencer Memorial Award to Jenny Fielder.

GCSE Awards for progress, attainment and for students who had fulfilled the criteria for both progress and attainment were awarded individually to a combined total of 29 students. Sixth form students receiving awards: The Cathy Tremaine Award for Business Studies to Leah Russell, Richard D’Rozario Award for English to Joshua Pinchbeck, Chalmers Award for Mathematics to Christopher Bagwell, Gooch and Housego Award for Excellence in Science to Leah Harper, Branston Cup for Sociology to Jessica Broom, Bennett Cup for Geography to Lucy Elsdale, and the Parker Hannifin Cup for Design and Technology to Thomas Singleton. Academic Achievement Awards were presented in History to Grace Dean, Health & Social Care to Nuria Sa, Music to Grace Truong, Photography to Ashleigh McLaren and in Psychology to Chloe Hodder.

Other top awards presented were: The Old Ilminsterian Cup for Outstanding Academic Achievement to Sophie Fielder, Governors Award for Personal Endeavour to Emma Cheffey, Rotary ‘Service above Self’ Award to Isabelle Applegate, Romans 12 Award to Joseph Galfin and the Headteacher’s Award to Frank Agar. The evening programme included a rendition of Journey to the Past from Anastasia, sung by Charlotte Wellman. In a statement Wadham School said: “Well done to all the students who received awards and to all the parents and carers who support them.”
