Members of the U3As in Crewkerne, Yeovil and Martock enjoyed a mini holiday to Blackpool, organised by Jan Simpson under the auspices of Crewkerne & District U3A’s Serendipity group. On their four day trip, the party enjoyed visiting the world famous Tower Ballroom, known as the home of ballroom dancing and a regular yearly fixture for the Strictly Come Dancing TV series. During an afternoon tea dance at the ballroom, the holiday group were able to see the mighty Wurlitzer organ. The Blackpool tour also included seeing the illuminations and visiting Fleetwood Market, while staying at the Queens Hotel.

Jan Simpson said: “It was a holiday full of fun and laughter and I hope this has made the bonds between our three U3As even stronger than before. On the way to Blackpool we called at the National Arboretum and on the way back stopped off at Trentham Gardens.” The next Serendipity group trip is to Sandown on the Isle of Wight in April 2020, which looks like being very popular as already there are only a few seats left.
