The theme for this year’s Christmas Tree Festival is Around The World. Organisers of the popular annual event in St Bartholomew’s Church are inviting entrants to be as creative as possible but reminding them that no flashing lights will be accepted. The closing date for entries is November 24th with the total number of trees exhibiting limited to 55, on a first come first served basis. Trees can be set up in the church on Monday December 16th from 4 pm until 8 pm and on Tuesday 17th between 9 am and 1 pm.
Visitors will be able to vote for their favourite tree during the tree festival which will be open on Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th from 9.30 am – 5.30 pm, on Friday 20th from 9.30 am – 4 pm, closing early for the Midwinter Concert and on Saturday 21st from 9.30 am until 5.30 pm. Trees will remain in the church for services over Christmas. All trees need to be removed on December 30th between 9 am and 5 pm.
An area of the church will be available for children to paint a Christmas bauble, which they can take home, during the Christmas Tree Festival and refreshments will be served. A modest level of advertising is allowed on the trees for businesses, in return for a small donation to church funds. The winner of the senior and junior sections of the tree festival competition will be awarded a small prize.
