Santa will be out and about in Merriott, Crewkerne and Misterton on his annual evening tour of the local streets, beginning on Monday December 9th. His reindeer sleigh, accompanied by volunteers from the Rotary Club of Crewkerne District will be bringing sweets for children and raising funds with a bucket collection for local charities between 6.30 pm and 8 pm. Charities that have previously benefited from the door-step collections include Henhayes Memory Club, School In A Bag and PROMISEworks Mentoring.
The festive float will visit Merriott on December 9th, Lang Road, Bushfield Road, Langmead Road/Square, Severalls Park Avenue, Blake Road, Memorial Avenue, Furland Road and Orchard Rise on Tuesday 10th and Misterton and Station Road on Wednesday 11th. The following week, Santa and his helpers will be in Kingswood Road, Park View, Winyards View, Seaborough View and Kithill on Monday 16th. On Tuesday 17th residents in Fox Meadows, Ashlands Road, Oak Drive, Birch Way, Chestnut Avenue, Laburnum Crescent, Maple Drive, Aspen Way, Beechwood Drive, The Laurels, Bincombe Drive, Redgate Park, Ashlands Meadow, Old Mill Lane, Gibbs Court and North Street will have the opportunity to see the festive sleigh, with the last visit of the season on Wednesday December 18th to South Street, West Street, Middle Path, Lyme Road, Hermitage Street, Gouldsbrook Terrace and East Street.
A spokesperson for the Rotary Club of Crewkerne District said: “Some roads are too small for Santa’s 4×4 shaped reindeer to safely turn in and we apologise for not being able to visit every road. We would like to thank all of the volunteers that make this event possible each year and thank all the residents for their kind donations to local charities.” Dates, times and routes may be varied at short notice, particularly in bad weather, but the ringing of sleigh bells and Christmas music will let everyone know when Santa is on his way.
