A pop-up shop selling arts and crafts by local people has opened in George Lane. The shop which can be accessed between Barclays Bank building and Hays Travel in Market Street, has been leased by professional painter and print-maker Emily Quince. Emily who has her art studio upstairs has lived in Crewkerne since 2011. She studied art and design at Basingstoke Technical College and later graduated from Middlesex Polytechnic/University London with a BA Hons in Fine Art. Emily was the first person in England allowed to present their dissertation in visual form, due to being diagnosed as severely dyslexic at the age of 10 years.

Emily’s mother Jennie Gettens who enjoys creating things from recycled materials is helping to run the shop. Another local artist displaying her work alongside Emily’s art and silk screen prints is Sue Green of Lyewater. The pop-up shop is open on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10 am to 5 pm until Saturday December 21st.
