A Police enquiry is underway after a 39 year old man was found with stab injuries in the North Street area of Crewkerne at around 10.30 pm yesterday evening. The man was found with serious injuries and treated by members of the public, the first officers on the scene and medics, before being airlifted to hospital.
Detective Sergeant Adam Knee said: “An investigation is underway and we’re appealing for anyone in Crewkerne town centre, who saw or heard anything suspicious last night, to call us as soon as possible. While we haven’t established the exact location where the man was attacked, we are currently reviewing CCTV from around the town centre, making enquiries at local businesses and carrying out house-to-house enquiries.”
Police are currently treating it as a targeted attack rather than one at random. Officers are carrying out additional patrols around Crewkerne to provide reassurance. If anyone has concerns they are advised to speak to a member of the local neighbourhood team. Anyone who has information that may help with the Police enquiry is asked to phone 101 quoting reference 5219286802. Alternatively if they wish to remain anonymous, they can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
