A road diversion is in place on the A3066 between North Perrott and Haselbury Plucknett, following a serious road accident. Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received a call from a member of the public, reporting a traffic collision on the North Perrott Road at around 07:24 hrs this morning. Two fire appliances from Yeovil and Beaminster were immediately mobilised. A spokesman said: “On arrival the Incident Commander confirmed that one male was trapped inside a vehicle, following a two vehicle road traffic collision. Crews got to work to stabilise the vehicle and make it safe, before removing the side of the vehicle using hydraulic rescue equipment.” The casualty was air lifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol. Police recovery work and enquiries are ongoing and diversion signs will remain in place while the road is closed to through traffic, although it may be accessed locally.
